Tricky Workplace Situation Handled
- I am consciously aware of the various cognitive biases that affect us all. I try as much to not get influenced by it. But alas errare humanum est
- Keeping occam's razor as general guiding principle helps overcome confirmation bias
- Its circumstantial based on the access to the data available. on 70-80 percentage of the time objectivity principles are applied, the reason being that sometimes valid data is filtered rather than presented openly
- Understanding cognitive biases and knowing that we are product of circumstances growing up. Empathy is another way in my opinion to boost objective decision making
- - If it is a part of a franchise, then understand the cost centers across various stores and if it’s a single store undertake a detailed audit across a quarter - How many of the employees have a basic to detailed understanding of store operations to get sense of how each member of the store is aware of his/her contribution to the store finance - What’s the interpretation from each member about cost vs investment. Some might see the blazing bright sign as a cost , while others might perceive them to see it as an investment
- 1. Identify the nature and scope of the problem And Understand the impact of some of implicit and explicit biases 2 . Gather/ acquire relevant information 4. Act on the information with a Plan and have process to Inspect the outcome of the plan 5 Audit and revaluation NBC
- Scenario 2 - She has taken a step back and understood that addressing it tactically would not help the situation. By addressing her emotional state she has taken a step towards resolving the conflict internally and then externally
- Broadly it allows one person to effectively face the challenges of real life. Working in the real world is a constantly riddled with multiple data point and changes. By embracing the constant change and learning to plan for it , one can be more productive and effective

- My most stressful situation is when I have to train and mentor new engineers into a project and it has a delivery impact 1. Planning - by accounting for inexperience and a with a detailed plan, I can eliminate the training and onboarding issues. With a broad scope definition I can set the expectations of the engineers 2, Inspect and Adapt, by having timely status checks, I can follow the progress 3. Understanding that Murphy’s Law can kick in anytime, prepare to change course and adapt
- It’s obvious that HJME is more conducive to innovation. Flexibility, adaptability and open communication fosters innovation

- I'm not a domain expert to assess common complaints! As an external participant, I would guess employee turnover, low margins , impact of e-commerce, and logistics as some of the common complaints.
- I am not sure I understand what the customer complaint for the online store is all about.
- I guess as collaboration software company, most common complaints would be slow video throughout in Webex calls; Edge software to boost data packets; and routing data through public clouds.
