Tricky Workplace Situation Handled
- importance to expand the zone of emotional tolerance, take time to breathe and reflect without making rash decision that will likely be the wrong deciion.
- stay in the moment, reflect, consider, review, don't over react, take time to think and to breathe will likely result in a very different reaction and one which will take you to a more positive path
- stop, breathe, stay calm, take time out to reflect, don't react immediately, go sit somewhere peaceful, take a few hours to really digest, reflect, understand and then consider all angles before making a decision

- preparedness, able to face difficult situations but rationally and with mindfulness, come up with an action plan that can be adapted as required, not to to overreact and make bad decisions that will impact in both the short term and the long term.
- talking them through their feelings and concerns, putting them into perspectives to understand that what they see as problems are not problems, they just need to focus on the positive and not the negative. allowing themselves time to think about others and how they are feeling, to stay connected and check in on family and friends and colleagues, not to consume themselves with the media hype, but to remain positive and focused and to understand we will come out of this and get through this together.
- take time to focus on what positive change has happened during this time, things he was unable to focus on before the lockdown, how spending time with his wife and children is more ewnriching both for him and for his family, to appreciate this as a gift, the gift of precious time spent with loved ones that he may never expereince again. to appreciate the small things in life which ultimately will have a very positive affect on him going forward. to stop, to breathe, to appreciate and be thankful that he has a loving family, a safe and warm home to live in and time to appreciate what is really important

- a joint role playing exercise can be used creatively to help teach this skill to someone else....
- identify what the costs are? Are they essential to the business or can they be removed or reduced. How are they impacting the bottom line? How are they impacting efficiency? What alternative solutions could be looked at?
- currently faced with lack of content which is critical to our business model. Look at alternatives that would help for the interim period, discuss them with the team and agree on which solutions will work for our business , do a careful review and analysis on potential impact, prepare action plan and agree on the plan with the team, action the plan and measure results
- share own experience of problem solving and share with the mentee but ask the mentee to come up with a similar 5 step approach and work through it together to see how they will adapt themselves, support them in the process, guide them to find the conclusion themselves, what is the right action pan for them and for their business or situation.
