Tricky Workplace Situation Handled
- Not only is strategic planning important, but any professional would tell you it is the foundation of entrepreneurship. It is important as a skill because it allows entrepreneurs to view their businesses objectively and in a holistic manner. Establishing goals, setting priorities, and understanding the vision of the business is key in succeeding, which is what strategic planning is about. Becoming a strategic thinker and moving into becoming a strategic planner takes time, practice, and many learnings. This identifies a strong entrepreneur, and shows their potential of growth.
- I want my organization to grow. I want to think, establish a culture of development, and facilitate learning and growth opportunities.
- What I value about strategic thinking and planning is the flexibility of the approach. From my experience, I have learned strategic planning best when I was given room to brainstorm with a team, guided along the processes from my managers, set forth ideas, and implemented them. If I was a mentor, I would apply these principles with my mentees. As everyone would be from a different background, the process would still be quite similar. I would give them room to develop their skills, brainstorm with them, invest in showing them the right ways in thinking, and let them experience things their way.
- Is it allowing the decision making process to be with the employees. Approach, style, and method of accomplishing goals are conceptualized by each employee while Managers oversee the process and assist when needed. The Freedom leadership approach allows for creativing and the development of problem solving skills. It also teaches responsibility and educated the employees more about understanding the importance of the decision-making process.
- Pros: This process has a big learning curve, which I am an advocate for and I personally always work towards it. It requires less Micromanagement, which I completely agree with. Cons: A lot of experience is required to conduct such type of leadership style. Since the process is completely out of your hands as a leader, you'll need to have extensive knowledge of what your employees are working on and vastly beyond it. Right now, I feel I would need more experience before becoming this type of a leader fully. I can implement some aspects but not all.
- N/A since I am not working with any team right now. But with the teams I worked with before, this approach would have definitely worked. There was a lot of room for creation but the management style didn't allow it which cause the business to ultimately suffer.

- I would explain it by taking them the process, giving examples, and actually provide them with ideas on how it can be tested and conducted.
- As the IT, Hotel and Tourism industries are all service providers, an innovative idea would be to improve the current service providing solutions. For example, an app can be developed for a specialized car service that only caters to specific hotels. The app would require a booking confirmation from the hotel and showcase the car services available for tourists staying in that hotel.
- I use this approach when trying to understand a particular issue in my life. Whether it is personal, or work. System thinking clarifies the road, and shows the right options. This skill has benefited me a lot when deciding what to study and how to continue with my career.
