Tricky Workplace Situation Handled
- Being a women, asian with a very soft-spoken feature, I always need to work twice or three times my peer colleague to achieve the recognition that I deserve. The kind of situation I am having is not unique - means each of us might feel or encounter at some point , things that hold us back. It is very important to identify and understand biases , making it a point that diversities are natural and in fact promote collective power when being put together rather than to disseminate one another.
- I believe that human potentials are immense and they would find a treasure trove in everything surround them by being curious. I would highly encourage act of curiosity , to know only not from our perspective but also from various angles. I like to illustrate that curiosity gives us an opportunity to enrich ourselves from getting to know from others point of view. With this mindset, eventually they will be able to develop a process of empathy - feeling others and reflect those to their own takes and responses. Thus creating a syncing mode and solution as a producer or service provider to the customer needs and expectations.
- Design thinking involves observing the perspective and behavior of our consumers while embracing empathy. Once we understand their priorities and what might cause a setback, we will be able to prototype a solution relevant to certain scheme that was developed from the needs of customers at first place. Hence ensuring efficiency and nurturing relationship based on relatable experiences.
- I work in hospitality industry where teamwork is imperative. Although each role/department has their own goals and priorities, I develop a sense of belonging and collective victory when dealing with my peer colleagues. Indirectly to hold them accountable by making them appreciated as part of the people who make it happen. This way, everyone will understand that is only with their best contribution that the maximum result can be achieved.
- I would always encourage people to look into their unique features and embrace them - through their hobbies, passion and zeal of life. I think it is important to constantly remind people of our core characteristic as human being, that we evolve and we are social creatures and both create possibility to reach a renewed best version of synergy from time to time.
- I have worked with Medallia in gathering immediate customer service feedback - in particular to sales and events to assess the whole process from the moments enquiry received to negotiation and finalizing deals to planning and executive to post-event/sales actions. We met every week to share these insights to all of team member regardless in which path our role significantly play. By giving the big picture of the sales and servicing process we make everybody understand their role and potential impact throughout the process. We also have an opportunity to learn others perspectives that are concluded from various set of skills and customer touch points, making it possible to enhance our collaborations.
- I like to plant a perspective that we can discover above and beyond ourselves continuously - like planting seeds. Growth is real and to put things into realization we need to make real efforts that create impact. Often fixed mindset are product of deeply held insecurities and we need to identify those at the first place. Why people feel something hold them back and carefully nurture their imagination to create a reverse-thinking of of things would be if they would think of themselves moving forward rather than taking back by certain things. When they are able to imagine positive in the opposite of negative , they have made the very essential step to come out of the fixed mindset and bring them forward.
