- Maintain an open body language, hold a gentle reassuring soft smile, move the upper body towards the client to display interest and maintain soft eye contact
- Eyebrows flatten out and poke down, the eyes are going to glare or stare, the lips are going to go flat. The body language is emphatic, vigorous and outside the box. The vocal tone gets loud.
- I could have taken a breath to calm down and reassess my emotions at the moment. That would have allowed me to choose my responses rather than simply react. I would have paid attention to my own micro-expressions - eyebrow, eyes and lips and ensured that they were calm and peaceful and not reflecting the anger and irritation of the client. I would have stayed within the box and kept the volume of my voice softer, slower and gentler.
