Tricky Workplace Situation Handled
- The key is admit what you know and to be honest about what you dont know. Based on the situation you can seek out this knowledge in someone else as an additional team resource or out the time in to gain the skills.
- I would remind my staff that as an individual they are irreplaceable and therefore self care is important. Job tasks can be performed by so many others even an AI, therefore apply themselves to the best of their ability but know their limits and know when to take a break and reassign or recalibrate the approach.
- I switch off once its the end of the day. What helps me is to realize that what cant get done today just cant and I make a list of must dos for the next day. Additionally, I always try to distinguish urgent from critical or important and think about that to determine when I need to extend myself beyond the 9-5.
- Some of the obstacles could include financial constraints, poor time management and need to keep both jobs. It isnt true of me as a few years a ago I read the tyranny of the urgent and purpose driven life and it helped shape my perspective on work and life and the need to live in the moment.
