Tricky Workplace Situation Handled
- When I was wonder what to do next before setting up my company.. do I find another job, take a year off, set up my own business, etc... I would share a real-life experience and ask the client to recall a similar time in their life to connect to and resonate with.
- Relevant to the pic?... I need to take care of my piece of the puzzle to be of service to the bigger picture, knowing what to say "yes" to and "no" to... I would recall and share an experience when I was overcommitting and exhausted myself out because I didn't know (or was fearful to say "no"), I would ask the mentee to draw on a time and inner-reflect on it... I could use case studies to deepen the learning
- Switch off Ahead of schedule - Plan the tasks according to their deadline to ensure it is met, also look at any congestion that may result as a result of too many things that create a bottleneck and schedule theme into planner acordingly
- Fear, peer pressure, tasks, saboteurs, limiting beliefs, obligations, commitments, inability to say "no", bad habbits
- Taking responsibility for Katie's experience, Disempowering Katie from creating her own experience, this is the Mentors agenda not necessarily the mentee
- Ask powerful question, ask what she would do to experience this... What are some ideas, help brainstorm, identify some actions, hold accountable
- Ask them to recall specific times, elevate their thinking to broaden horizons to other aspects... explore "being" behaviours to achieve desired outcomes
- Invite her to take on different perspectives... Explore the impact of not being transparent & ignoring and what impact this is having on her team... What "being" qualities" would benefit her more to step into and what possible action "doing" to take
- Explore the impact this could possible have on both those leaving & staying. Explore the fears that drive this behaviour
- Explore "what if's" and build an action plan, a contingency plan for these, have policies and procedures to support the management of risk
- Relevant to the pic... I would share a holiday experience of having my wallet stolen and keeping an additional credit card hidden in my luggage just in case... Identify "what if" or "what's the worst that could happen" possibilities... ask mentee to recall a past experience... and use case studies
- Relevant to the picture, bridging the gap and offering a hand to help raise people up - Helping my wife with her coaching business not from a place of wanting to be seen but in service of her
- When my daughter died, I went to collect my wife, making the assumption of where she was... I could have applied to pause, based on the facts, and made more powerful choices in how I responded
- Referring to the skill in the picture?... My life experience would be setting up my own business and stepping outside my comfort zone and creating my own direction, leading the way, and creating followers by leading from the front/behind/side who also subscribed to the vision/purpose... I would share this experience through powerful storytelling, get the other to connect to a time in their life when they did something similar. Have them embody the experience to actually "feel" it.
