Tricky Workplace Situation Handled
- Active listening gives positive impression that their frustration is being heard. Even though frustration is there , they are satisfied that they are being heard. This will ensure to approach us next time as well.
- Actively listen to customer. Reach to an amicable solution. Don’t bad mouth neither your company or customer
- Customer asked for a huge discount and I disagreed. I could have listened and understood better: 1. Reason he is asking for discount if he has found any alternative offer 2. Understood if he or his customer has any budget issues 3. Give him the assurance/confidence that ee shall support him in the best ways we can
- There can be sad customers. However customer must always have the feeling that they can approach us and I must be able to provide some help in some way
- Ask Mara what works is she wanting from management end. Provide her the option of work from home for couple of days in a week. If there are many such kids, hr can explore the option of starting a small crèche in their facility. Provide her the option of flexible working hours.
- Positive: people can interact on a day to day basis, discuss problems and come out with innovative solutions. Negative: micromanaging things makes the employees feel they are being monitored and thereby trust element is lost.

- Making time for strategic analysis and devoting complete time for it. Set a deadline personally before and commit to the same. Tactical decisions are also important thereby prioritize tactical things within the day and while involving strategically fully focus during that time. Usually have weekly targets( longer than tactical ) for strategic cases and if possible inform team about the importance of strategic call and asking team’s assistance for tactical decisions of anything urgent comes up

- Suggesting Sarah that it is okay for not being transparent, however to communicate to Sarah about the team’s anxiety politely. May be a team casual meeting outside office might help.
- Suggesting Rob to check the possibility of reducing salary of the employees he decides to let go. Check with team if they can go on some leave without pay for sometime till the crisis is off. Check if some work as consultant and get paid for the work.

Sufficient time was agreed mutually with customer after communicating with management set realistic expectations and agreed on a time line
