Many times in my role when I am stuck with a problem, I tend to fall back on past information rather than looking out and find new information. Problem solving takes a long time.
One way that I use is the flipping question. When I am stuck in a situation I tell myself; Assuming I know the answer to the challenge what would it look like?
Typically in my experience it allows me to move from a negative frame to a positive frame. The answer may not be the right one always, however it allows new perspective.
